Burst pipe — What should I do?
Emergency steps when you have a burst pipe and water everywhere. Minimise damage before the plumber arrives.

Turn off the main water stopcock IMMEDIATELY

If you don't know where it is, check under the kitchen sink or near the water meter

Cut electricity to the affected area if water is near sockets
4
Collect water with buckets and towels to minimise damage
5
Open taps to release pressure from the pipes
6
Photograph the damage for insurance purposes
⚠️ Don't attempt to repair the pipe yourself if you're not experienced. A bad repair can make it worse.
